Dr. Al Alwi joined Healthpoint in May 2016 as an anesthesiologist and pain specialist. He obtained his MBBCh; Bachelor of Medicine from Kasr Al Ainy Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, Egypt in 1993 and his MSc Doctor of
Medicine (Anesthesia) specialist qualification in 2002 from Cairo University.
Prior to joining Healthpoint Dr. Al Alwi was Head of the Anesthesia Department and Operation Theater Manager at the Beverly Hills Medical Center in Abu Dhabi. Before that, he was Head of the Anesthesia Department and Operation Theater Manager at Emirates French Hospital, Abu Dhabi. He has held various roles including anesthesia specialist at Al Mafraq Hospital, Abu Dhabi and the Egypt Air Hospital. He started his medical career as an anesthesia specialist at the Red Crescent Day Care Surgery, Cairo, Egypt in May 2002.
While working at Al Mafraq Hospital, a tertiary care hospital with 500 beds, between 2004 to 2004 to 2013, he was part of the core contingent regarding emergency field hospitals deployment (Yemen 2011) and Formula 1 (Yas Island 2010, 2011 and 2012.)
Also at Al Mafraq Hospital, he took part in the Department of Anesthesia’s accredited academic program and research activities.
At the Emirates French Hospital from 2013 to 2015 he managed a crew of operating theatre (OT) nurses and two anesthesia technicians. He organized the OT Operative Schedule and ran the anesthesia clinic and postoperative pain management. He also organized the Continuing Medical Education (CME) and training programs for staff.
Dr. Al Alwi specializes in acute pain services and labor analgesia. He performs all types of anesthesia (excluding cardiac anesthesia) for gynecology and obstetrics, ophthalmology, ENT surgery, orthopedic surgery and GIT endoscopy.
Dr. Al Alwi received his ACLS, PALS and BLS from the American Heart Association. He is a member of the Emirates Medical Association (EMA).
He has attended a number of conferences in the UAE including the 4th Middle East Anesthesia Pain Management & Critical Care Conference – Dubai 2014 and the International Symposium on Regional Anesthesia, Pain and Perioperative Medicine – Abu Dhabi 2015.
