Dr. Harry Thompson is a UK trained Consultant Anesthetist, who joined Healthpoint after enjoying a successful career working at London’s busiest acute hospitals. He attained his medical degree and intercalated Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Sciences from Imperial College, London.
A former Royal Marines Medical Officer, Dr. Thompson brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the department. He is the deputy Head of Department and takes responsibility for safety and protocolised patient care. He is the lead anesthetist for perioperative bariatric medicine.
Dr. Thompson organizes and chairs the internationally acclaimed annual Bariatric and Obesity Anesthesia Conference in the UK. He is the Vice-Chairman of the Society for Bariatric and Obesity Anaesthesia (SOBA) of the UK and has trained over 1000 anesthetists over the last 7 years. He was integral to the development of the SOBA drug dosing app for iphones and is regularly asked to speak at various international conferences including the Association of Anesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland and the European Society of Anesthesia.

Dr. Thompson is a fellow of the Royal College of Anesthetists; faculty and senior tutor of the North West London Critical Care Network (NWLCCN); a veteran member of the Royal Navy Medical Services; member of the Regional Anesthesia UK; and a member of the European Society of Regional Anesthesia (ESRA).
In 2021 he was awarded the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust ‘Make a Difference’ award; and in 2019 he received the Vivek Sivaraman Memorial Prize for Safety and Quality Improvement, from the University College London Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
