Dr. Shyju Paremal is a UK trained consultant Gastroenterologist with 15 years of extensive expertise in diagnosing and managing diseases of the digestive system.
He pursued advanced training in Gastroenterology and General (Internal) Medicine at NHS teaching hospitals in the United Kingdom, to achieve his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) from Royal College of Physicians UK (MRCP UK), Specialty Certificate in Gastroenterology (SCE), and a Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh (FRCP Edin).
Dr. Paremal has a distinguished clinical and academic record. From 2011 to 2016, he was a specialist registrar in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. From 2016 to 2022, he served as Consultant Gastroenterologist at The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, UK, a leading tertiary NHS hospital, and from 2022 to 2024, he worked at Asha Hospital, Kerala, India.
Beyond his clinical work, he is an accomplished endoscopist, teacher, and author, having published extensively in British and international journals. He is also a certified endoscopy trainer for Gastroenterology registrars and nurse endoscopists.
Prior to joining Healthpoint, Dr. Paremal was a Consultant Gastroenterologist at SEHA Clinics, Madinat Khalifa Healthcare Center, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Dr. Paremal’s scope of practice at Healthpoint includes diagnosing and managing conditions across the digestive system, including inflammatory bowel disease, acid reflux, dyspepsia, IBS, chronic abdominal pain, gas bloating, liver disease, and performing procedures such as colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, biopsies, and cancer screenings.
Dr. Paremal specializes in gastroenterology and hepatology, advanced endoscopy, and the management of inflammatory bowel disorders. He is actively engaged in patient-specific care, procedural excellence, and teaching.
