Safina has over 18 years of specialized experience in Podiatry.
Safina earned her Bachelor of Science in Podiatry (BSc Hons) from Glasgow Caledonian University, in the United Kingdom in 2005. Continuing her education, she completed a Master of Science MSc degree in Theory of Podiatric Surgery from Glasgow Caledonian University, UK, in 2019.
Prior to joining Healthpoint she served as a Podiatrist with the Diabetes team at NMC Royal Hospital, Sharjah, and as a Podiatrist at the Canadian Medical Centre, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Safina actively participates in the UAE-wide Working Group for the Management of Diabetic Foot Disease and Prevention, aimed at alleviating the burden of diabetic foot disease in the country. Additionally, she volunteers as a support member for the Special Olympics, UAE, and has engaged in various training programs alongside them.
Safina’s scope of practice primarily focuses on diabetic foot care and management, with a strong emphasis on limb salvage and amputation prevention to mitigate the risks of lower limb amputations. She is dedicated to empowering others through education to improve health outcomes while preserving individuals' mobility.
Safina specializes in a wide array of podiatric services, including the removal of hard skin and corns, treatment of verruca’s and warts, addressing heel and foot/arch pain, managing flat feet, and addressing toenail concerns such as thick nails, fungal infections, and ingrown toenails. Additionally, she offers expertise in wound care and management, conducts gait analysis to assess walking patterns, utilizes shockwave therapy and strapping therapy for various foot conditions, and provides specialized care for pediatric foot issues. Her comprehensive approach also includes the provision of orthotics and insole therapy to optimize foot function and alleviate discomfort.
