Ms. Al Merabi has over 10 years’ experience in the field of mental health working with adults, adolescents and children. Her experience includes working as a Clinical Psychologist in hospital settings, as well as college setting in Canada and United Arab Emirates. She conducted workshops on various mental health topics including depression, anxiety, psychological effects of traumatic brain injury, post stroke depression, bullying, eating disorders, stress management, attachment issues and how to identify students with learning difficulties. In addition, she provided strategies to health care providers on how to support patients in rehab settings. Ms. Al Merabi has also worked closely with social support services to help victims of abuse.
Ms. Al Merabi’s training and experience involve a diverse range of mental health challenges including neurodevelopmental disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, anxiety disorders, body dysmorphic disorder, eating disorders, oppositional defiant, post-traumatic stress disorder, dissociative disorders and conduct disorders. Although Ms. Al Merabi uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a key approach in her practice, she aims at an integrative approach, combining elements of Interpersonal Therapy, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and psychodynamics tailored to individual needs. She also utilizes effective play therapy when working with children to provide them with useful strategies for coping with difficult thoughts, emotions or behaviors. Ms. Al Merabi is skilled in psychometric testing (verbal & nonverbal IQ tests and personality assessment.)
