Dr. Sami is a UK-board-certified-consultant orthopedic surgeon with over 18 years of experience.
Dr. Sami obtained his intercalated Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMedSci) (Hons), and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Sheffield in 2006. He completed his residency from the East Midlands (North) Rotation, completing his FRCS (Tr & Orth), and achieving his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Trauma and Orthopedics Surgery. He has been on the GMC Specialist Register since 2017.
He is fully fellowship-trained from international centers of excellence including the Pulvertaft Hand Centre, Derby and Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, London, UK.
Dr. Sami is one of a few surgeons internationally, and the only one in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to have completed both the prestigious British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) Hand Diploma from the University of Manchester in 2019 and the European Board Hand Surgery Diploma from the Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand (FESSH) in 2019.
Dr. Sami has been on the faculty of several courses, and international meetings, as well as a reviewer for a hand surgery journal. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and has presented and lectured at international meetings.
Prior to joining Healthpoint, Dr. Sami was the Clinical Lead for Hand Surgery for a large NHS hospital in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Sami specializes in the broad spectrum of hand and wrist surgery, including acute fractures of the hand and wrist, as well as conditions including such as carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome; management of both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, Keinbock’s disease, wrist instability, delayed presentations of injuries including mal-unions and non-unions of hand and wrist fractures.
Dr. Sami has a keen interest in sports injuries as well as arthroscopy of the hand and wrist, having treated high-level athletes in the fields of motor racing, football and ice hockey.
