Dr. Sami joined Healthpoint in 2022 as a Consultant Orthopaedic Hand and Wrist Surgeon. He brings nearly seven years of experience as a hand and wrist surgeon, having worked in a similar role in the United Kingdom both at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre in Derby, and Northampton General Hospital, Northampton, United Kingdom.
He obtained his intercalated Bachelor of Medical Sciences, (BMedSci) (Hons), and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Sheffield in 2006, after which he furthered his orthopaedic education by completing his residency in the East Midlands (North) Rotation, completing his FRCS (Tr & Orth) board exam, and achieving his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Trauma and Orthopedics Surgery. He has been on the Specialist Register since 2017.
He is one of a few surgeons internationally that has completed both the prestigious British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) Hand Diploma, from the University of Manchester in 2019, and the European Board Hand Surgery Diploma, from Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand (FESSH) in 2019.
His specialties involve broad spectrum hand and wrist surgery, including conditions such as acute hand and wrist fractures, compression neuropathies, Dupuytren’s disease, management of both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, Keinbock’s disease, wrist instability, delayed presentations such as mal-unions, or non-unions of hand and wrist fractures.
Dr. Sami has received several awards and research grants from prestigious societies including a grant from the National Heart Fund to pursue research in vascular biology and aneurysm rupture in 2003 where he visited the University of Washington, Seattle for the purposes of research; and again in 2015, where he was awarded the BSSH travelling fellowship to the Robert A. Chase Centre of Hand and Upper Limb Surgery in Stanford University, California, United states of America.
Dr Sami has been on the faculty of several courses, and international meetings, as well as a reviewer for hand surgery journal. He has published in peer review journals and has presented and lectured in international meetings. As an Surgical Review Corporation-accredited specialist in minimally invasive techniques, Dr. Sammi brings cutting-edge expertise to the field of orthopedic surgery.
