Dr. Sebastian Kunz has more than 15 years of experience in Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery.
Dr. Kunz obtained his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from University of Cologne, Germany in 2006. He completed his residency training in Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery in Germany from 2007 till 2013 and was then awarded as a Specialist Physician for Orthopedics and Accident Surgery by State’s Chamber of Physicians (Arztekammer Nordrhein).
Dr. Kunz implemented London´s first biomechanical high-end LAB in a clinical setting combined with detailed, personalized rehabilitation plans for patients and members. He initiated and conducted research and innovation projects into prevention and treatment of injuries or medical conditions, especially hamstring injuries, and biomechanical analysis of players to drive injury risk mitigation and to optimize rehabilitation. Besides his special interest to add biomechanical methodologies to his clinical practice, Dr Kunz developed in the recent years a passion to integrate data science, analytics, and Artificial Intelligence into musculoskeletal medicine as well as technology for musculoskeletal data collection. He believes that by combining these areas with clinical expertise will help to promote preventive care models in sports medicine and orthopaedics.
Prior to joining Healthpoint, Dr. Kunz worked as a Consultant Orthopedic and Trauma Surgeon in various prestigious orthopedic and sports medicine clinics. He was the Club Doctor for Chelsea FC, since January 2023 whilst also serving as the Club Doctor of the professional football club, FC Viktoria Köln, in Germany for three years. He was also the Medical Director at Lanserhof at the Arts Club, London from 2018 till 2022.
Dr. Kunz’s scope of practice includes but is not limited to, diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and diseases including shoulder, ankle, knee, wrist and hand, hip and pelvis, and spine; diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound and interventional procedures under ultrasound guidance and anatomic landmark guided including steroids, hyaluronic acid, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and other types of injections for osteoarthritis, tendonitis and tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, and other musculoskeletal/orthopedics injuries; extracorporeal shockwave therapy for musculoskeletal injuries such as plantar fasciitis, calcific tendinopathies, and tendonitis in the shoulder, elbow, ankle, and other joints and muscle trigger points; dry needling of muscle trigger points and for myofascial pain syndromes; orthotics and prescription of rehabilitation related medical equipment and supports; and biomechanical analysis and functional dynamic diagnostics such as gait analysis, running analysis, and analysis of muscle-tendon units.
