Dr. Sherif Ban has more than 22 years of experience in Orthopedic Surgery, with a special focus on hand and upper limb conditions.
Dr. Ban possesses extensive expertise in the management of complex hand, wrist, and upper limb conditions. He is highly experienced in treating sports injuries, fractures, tendon and nerve injuries, hand deformities, degenerative conditions, and complex wrist and elbow disorders. He has particular expertise in wrist arthroscopy and minimally invasive wrist surgery.
He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBCh) from Cairo University, Egypt, where he also completed his internship and residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Cairo University Hospitals. He further advanced his expertise through a Fellowship in Hand and Plastic Reconstructive Surgery at the AO Trauma Center, BG Unfalluniversitätsklinik, Tübingen, Germany. He also holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Orthopedic Surgery and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Orthopedic Surgery.
Throughout his career, Dr. Ban has made significant contributions to orthopedic surgery, clinical research, and medical education. He completed and submitted his Master's thesis on shoulder resurfacing arthroplasty in 2008 and later documented his clinical experience and outcomes in advanced wrist arthroscopy through his MD thesis in 2011. He has performed numerous advanced wrist arthroscopy procedures, including techniques introduced at his institution, and has extensive experience in minimally invasive wrist surgery. He has also served as a Lecturer of Orthopedic Surgery at Cairo University Hospitals, an AO Regional Faculty member for the MENA region, and a Course Instructor at Sharjah Surgical Institute.
Prior to joining Healthpoint, Dr. Ban served as Consultant in Orthopedic Surgery at NMC Royal Hospital, Abu Dhabi, UAE, and previously at Burjeel Day Surgery Center, Abu Dhabi, UAE. He also served as a Specialist in Orthopedic Surgery at Reem Hospital, Abu Dhabi, and previously at Healthpoint Hospital, Abu Dhabi, where he worked from 2016 to 2021.

Dr. Ban specializes in the management of sports injuries affecting the hand, wrist, and elbow, as well as carpal injuries and disorders including scaphoid fractures and nonunions, carpal instability, and Kienböck disease. His expertise includes wrist arthroscopy, distal radioulnar joint instability, tendon injuries and transfers, hand and wrist fractures, chronic hand and wrist pain, hand deformity correction, malunited fingers and distal radius fractures, rheumatoid and osteoarthritis of the hands and fingers, small joint replacement, and the management of hand and wrist lumps and tumors. He also has extensive experience in elbow injuries and trauma, elbow arthroscopy, chronic elbow pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger digits, Dupuytren’s disease, epicondylitis, cubital tunnel syndrome, nerve repair, and nerve grafting.
