Dr. Madani is a UK-Board Certified physician and he joined Healthpoint in June 2023 as a Consultant Pulmonologist. He obtained his MBBS medical degree with a distinction in his final year from Barts and The London, Queen Mary, University of London. Following his graduation, he undertook his post-graduate medical training in London in General Internal Medicine and Respiratory Medicine working across various hospitals including university teaching and tertiary hospitals such as Royal Free Hospital, Royal Brompton Hospital, Harefield Hospital and Imperial College (Hammersmith, Charing Cross and St. Mary’s Hospitals). He also undertook a one year clinical fellowship in pleural disease and pleural intervention in Wales.
Dr. Madani is a member of the Royal College of Physicians of United Kingdom since 2011 and was granted the Specialty Certificate Examination in Respiratory Medicine in 2018. Upon completion of his training, Dr. Madani was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and is dual-accredited in Respiratory Medicine and General Internal Medicine. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of United Kingdom in 2024.
He initially worked as a Locum Consultant at Royal Free London and was subsequently appointed as a Substantive Consultant at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, where he sub-specialised in pleural disease, lung cancer and interventional pulmonology. Dr. Madani has over 10 years of experience in Pulmonology and General Internal Medicine.
Dr. Madani has a keen interest in medical education and research. He was an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Brunel Medical School, Brunel University of London. He has also taught on a Postgraduate Diploma/MSc course in Respiratory Medicine at Diploma MSc (awarded by University of South Wales). He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in the Philosophy of Medicine (Ethics and Philosophy of Healthcare) from The Worshipful Society of Apothecaries of London. He has completed several postgraduate modules as part of the Health & Medical Sciences Programme at University College London. In 2024 he was appointed as Adjunct Assistant Professor in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University.
He has numerous publications in peer-reviewed pubmed-indexed journals and has presented several research abstracts at international conferences. He was a Principal Investigator for the PROSPECT trial and was involved in recruiting patients for the RECOVERY trial.
Dr. Madani’s scope of practice covers all aspects of general pulmonology including asthma, breathlessness, cough, haemoptysis, COPD, bronchiectasis, pulmonary infection, respiratory complications of COVID-19, interstitial lung disease/pulmonary fibrosis, pleural disease, lung cancer, tuberculosis, sleep medicine, smoking cessation, occupational lung disease, sarcoidosis, pulmonary nodules and respiratory failure.
He is experienced in a range of procedures including bronchoscopy, EBUS-TBNA (endobronchial ultrasound transbronchial node aspiration), basic and advanced pleural procedures including medical thoracoscopy, ultrasound-guided pleural biopsies and indwelling pleural catheters. He is competent in performing pleural/thoracic ultrasound (Level 2, UK RCR).
He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK), British Thoracic Society, European Respiratory Society, British Thoracic Oncology Group and UK Pleural Society.
Dr. Madani was an Executive Committee Member of the UK Pleural Society from 2018 to 2023. He was also a Committee Member of the Standards of Care Committee (involved in overseeing the development of and approving guidelines) at the British Thoracic Society and also a Committee Member of the Specialty Training Advisory Group at the British Thoracic Society, both from 2015 to 2018.
