Dr. Serino has 37 years of medical experience and 32 years of specialist experience in vascular surgery.
Dr. Serino obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the Catholic University School of Medicine, Rome. He completed his surgical residency at La Sapienza University of Rome and later served as Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Catholic University Hospital in Rome.
Dr. Serino has led pioneering initiatives in vascular and transplant surgery throughout his distinguished career. During his tenure as Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Catholic University Hospital, he initiated one of Italy's first diabetic foot surgery programs. His international experience includes a pivotal role as Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Texas, Houston, where he contributed to groundbreaking research in transplantation.
Upon returning to Rome, Dr. Serino focused on advancing vascular surgery, founding Rome's first endovascular program and multidisciplinary diabetic foot program. His leadership extended to the IDI Research Hospital in Rome, where he pioneered limb salvage techniques and therapeutic angiogenesis, shaping the field's clinical research landscape. Dr. Serino's commitment to innovation continued at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, where he established and directed the Vascular Service. His research leadership at the Explora Research Laboratory in Rome has garnered substantial funding for cardiovascular tissue engineering projects, reflecting his impact on regenerative medicine. With over 8,000 vascular interventions, 257 publications, and significant roles in 12 clinical research projects, Dr. Serino's contributions have reshaped vascular surgery globally.
Prior to joining Healthpoint, Dr. Serino held the position of Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Serino's scope of practice includes vascular and endovascular procedures, diabetic foot surgery, surgical and cosmetic phlebology and gene therapy interventions for vascular conditions.
